This class teaches martial arts as a form of self-defense, philosophy, and physical conditioning. These attributes have an emphasis on reflex development, timing, hand-eye coordination, balance and a sense of well-being. Basic skills and forms will be stressed to offer students a balance in training. The benefits of martial arts include strength, flexibility, self-confidence, concentration, self-awareness, and improved physical fitness. Come work with our Sensei’s to obtain your black belt!
Let confidence KICK in with our soccer seasons! Children ages 3-8 have the opportunity to play their peers in our five separate age divisions. All games and practices focus on providing a positive, enriching environment based on mutual respect and equal playing time—rather than a “win-at-all-cost” mentality. Sportsmanship, character development, and soccer fundamentals are the motivation for programming. Encouraging physical activity and fun while assisting youth in building new skills will be a fun opportunity for all!
Serving boys and girls ages 3-9 years old, our Rookie Basketball league uses modified rules and lowered hoops in a non-competitive environment where children can learn the fundamentals of basketball. Sportsmanship and fun are emphasized in this league, with each player receiving equal playing time. The YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility is modeled and encouraged throughout each practice and game as we focus on new friendships, personal growth, and fun!
Water safety is a very important skill for kids to have. Come out and learn to swim with our trained Y Staff! Start early with our Parent Child Classes to familiarize the little ones with swim skills, and progress up to our School Age Lessons for the more seasoned swimmers. Life jackets and inflatable swimsuits are discouraged. Goggles are optional. Come prepare for a safe summer by learning to swim at the Y, where we are more than just a gym—we’re a cause!
